“Can-Do” attitude in Manchester

Author: carlgreb | April 23, 2007 on 1:36 pm | In WOW Stories | No Comments

Just wanted to take some time here this afternoon to update everyone on the Manchester, N.H. location. Monday evening the basement began to flood, and the team here responded quickly by getting as many on-duty and off-duty staff members they could find to form a chain carrying product and equipment up from the basement. AUM’s Corey Graham and Shaun Cope led the way by standing in freezing cold knee-high river water to get the job done. Their dedication saved us thousands of dollars that would have been literally “washed away”. By 1 AM Tuesday morning we had 4′ of water in the basement.

As some of you know, we are rolling out a new VOIP (voice over internet phone) system. It’s going to enable us to do some cool and practical things (like forward calls direct from corp office to each location) Anyways, wanted to ask for your help. We can put music on the system for callers on hold.  I would love to get recommendations on songs that you think represent us well. If you are musically savvy, I welcome your suggestions! Please provide one song suggestion…when we have made final decision, I will provide follow on post identifying the songs, and the contributor…thanks in advance…GS.

A letter to Jake’s!

Dear Jessica,

This is a ‘Thank You’ note for the Pool Party won by Melinda L* in a non-profit Raffle event last Christmas. You made everyone in the party feel comfortable and in an easy laid-back enviornment. We all had a great time at your place. All the staff were terrific. We especially liked the tray of appetizers you presented to us. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it.

It was a long way for us to drive to Jake’s Billiards. We came from Van Nuys, California which is west of Pasadena. All the people who attended the Pool Party are involved in a program called Cornerstone. This program helps homeless people get back on their feet again. David M* (who put up the security deposit) is a facilitator from a program called Project Return. He comes to Cornerstone to conduct group discussions with the Cornerstone clients. It was Project Return’s Christmas luncheon where I won the raffle to have a Pool Party at Jake’s Billiards. I’m sure glad I did as we had such a good time at your establishment.

Please pass on the word to your staff of our thanks.

Sincerely,
Melinda L*

Food for thought

As some of you know we have been working on improving our menu. I am hopeful that we will have a new menu launched during the summer. That said, I want your opinions. Please take a minute to share what you like, or don’t like about our menu. I’m looking for feedback on all aspects. Taste, Price, Portion Size, Presentation, Menu diversity, etc. No holds barred. I WANT HONEST FEEDBACK. The only way we will improve is if we can be honest with ourselves about what is right and what is wrong in our company. This is your chance, and I am listening.

I’ll start with a couple of comments. I think our wings are as good as any other restaurant out there, that said, we can improve them by offering more sauces. Our pizza’s need to improve. Our fish sandwhich is not good. Our Cuban is excellent, and unique. Our burgers are good but could be much better with a change in bun and seasoning. Just some of my thoughts….

I really look forward to hearing your opinions….and thanks. GS

I just wanted to say what a pleasure it has been to work with Jack. I actually looked forward to P&L reviews with him.  He was “on it” at all times.  And always a joy to talk to. He was a great GM and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse has definitely hired an “asset”.  I wish him and his family all the best! :)
