Fun at Jakes
Author: jakes | March 29, 2007 on 7:06 pm | In All Else | No Comments
We found this from www.yelp.com . This was posted about our club from one of our guests.
Fantastic fries - a must-have at the restaurant! The burgers are great too. Good place to grab a quick bite. Friendly service.
The billiard club is fun! The entrance is in the alley and you walk down the stairs to a big space filled with pool tables. The atmosphere is dark and causal. There’s usually a wait for pool tables, so get your name on the list right away and then you can hang out in the bar area where there are big TVs and decent number of seating. The bartenders are always friendly and the prices are not outrageous. I also like to play Golden T while I’m here. It’s a great place to chill with friends.

Pep Rally Kudos
Author: ESM Indy | March 29, 2007 on 11:21 am | In WOW Stories | 1 CommentIndy hosted a pep rally for East Chicago Central High School last Saturday afternoon. This was a first for the school to travel to Indianapolis to play in the Indiana High School Men’s Basketball Championships at Conseco Fieldhouse. The pep rally host estimated 800-1000 guests attended the event. East Chicago topped off their evening by beating local North Central HS in the championship game! Pep Rallies have been a fantastic way to drive business into our club and introduce our facility to out of town guests. Big kudos go out to our management team, kitchen and floor staff for giving a top notch experience to these families and students!
You can see our host’s comments below:
Thank you for allowing us to use Jillians for our East Chicago Central pep rally. The facility was perfect and the staff was tremendous. This allowed many activities, food and beverage options all in one location for all ages. I’ve recieved many compliments from those who attended, and I’m sure the will revisit whenever they return to Indy. Thanks again, Steve Perry East Chicago Central High School
401 (k) is on its WAY!
Author: gstevens | March 27, 2007 on 3:12 pm | In Announcements, Chief of Fun! | 7 CommentsHi folks! Well, it’s taken me longer than I wanted, but we finally have a 401 (k) plan. For those of you that are not aware what this is, it is a retirement plan. You can use PRE-TAX dollars (basically this lowers the amount of tax you have to pay to the government) to invest and your investment returns are TAX-FREE until you retire.
This plan will be open to all employees, and I strongly encourage everyone to find a way to put a little something into it. Even if you are in your teens or early 20’s you should find a way to put something in this plan. (for example, if you put only $500 per year ($10 per week) into the plan, you could have over $7,000 waiting for you years later.) This adds up really quick, and if you are diligent about it, you could have a lot of money available to you in your later years.
Any time that the governement lets you use pre-tax dollars for stuff like this, you should take advantage of it. (I think of it this way, do I want to give it to the government, or do I want to use it for myself…I give the government more than enough, so I jump on opportunities like this)
The plan will be managed for us by Merrill Lynch, and I’ve been working with them to select the investment options. They’ve come up with some really good mutual funds for us.
Stay tuned for further details. I anticipate a formal rollout in May, with enrollment date of June 1.

Large Party “Walk Ins”
Author: mdw6232 | March 18, 2007 on 12:52 pm | In All Else | 2 CommentsDoes anyone out there have any great ideas on how to better handle Large party “Walk Ins”. These are parties who do not want to book an event, want to order off the menu and all have seperate checks. They usually occur on our busiest shifts. It is a real struggle to provide great food and service to not only the large party but to other guests around them. Anyone doing One Check on parties above a certain number of guests?

Cookie Reception(ists)
Author: Kimba | March 16, 2007 on 12:43 pm | In Embrace Opportunity | 5 CommentsI have found that when delivering cookies to offices with a front receptionist (or Gate Keeper), that giving an extra box to that employee who manages how far you can “get in the door”, goes a long way as to getting in to actually see your target. Also, then, you don’t have to watch them sniffing the wonderful cookie scent, wishing they could have one!
Good luck!

Great Performance from our Akron club
Author: Dave Wallace | March 12, 2007 on 6:11 pm | In WOW Stories | 1 Comment
From our conversations over the last several weeks, speaking to the “purple cow” in our markets, I would like to recognize great performance from our Akron club on one of the two buyouts that we recently had. This event was definitely a WOW factor in our client’s eyes and team Akron and especially Mindy’s vision blew them out of the water.

In the spirit of Jillian’s has heart, Kim Bishop from the JBC Entertainment Support Center participated in the Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics last weekend in Louisville, KY. Her team raised over $3,000.00 by taking the leap into the Ohio River at a brisk 42 degrees. One of our Core Values is “Making a Difference.” and we all applaud you for your accomplishment and donation to a great organization. |
Ever wonder if it works?
Author: Milan | March 2, 2007 on 12:33 pm | In Jillian's Has HEART | No CommentsJust got a card from T Klein, a JHH recipient - he writes “My recovery is going great - I am way ahead of schedule and hope to be 100% in a couple of weeks” - “Thanks for being there for me” - another teammate helped by the generosity of those contributing to the Heart Fund - Thanks.
