Measuring your P-Mix

Author: pasadena | June 11, 2009 on 8:37 pm | In Uncategorized, Restaurant Technology, Announcements, Food and Drink, All for Fun, Everything Matters, All Else, Make It Your Own! | No Comments

Working on a side project for Jake on how the new menu is working for us, I have been using our P-Mix to find out and this what I have found out for using our new menu for a year….

In one year, we have used 13,388 lbs. of ground beef we sold in burgers that is an equivalent of 2 school buses.

In one year, we have created 196 gallons of chili that is 20 full tanks of gas for an average car.

For the amount of burgers sold, we have sold 52,170 that is 26,085 feet of burgers if you were to line the burgers up side by side, which is almost the size of 3 golden gate bridges, 72 Rose Bowl Football fields and is the distance of 4.94 miles.

Jake’s making a monster opportunity out of a hand sized monster!!!!

You probably have seen those crazy eating competitions on the food network and tv, from huge pie eating contest or to eating hot dogs till you explode. At Jake’s, we try to bring that same kind of commroidtry and competition with the flare of our burgers. Speaking with Jake last  “Wow, its great to see how much attention we get with our Monster Burger displayed on our window I have been only standing here watching for no more than 2 minutes and 25 guests walking by had to stop and simply look at the burger. There were many people who even stood, posed, and took pictures with the massive burger.” said Jake. Jake and I agreed using the monster burger display we generate an extra $200 in food sales because it looks so good! So, the following day Ray and I were discussing club ideas and our two servers Jason an Lincoln, came to us saying, “Someone has accepted the Jake’s challenge.” His name was Jeremy he said ” That burger looks pretty good I think I could eat it.” I replied, “All right you got it! If your able to finish this challenge you will be the first!” He accepted the Jake’s Challenge. The parameters of this challenge is that you must complete the entire burger of 5 patties 5 pieces of american cheese, and 10 pieces of bacon on a standard Jake’s Burger build in 10 minutes. Jeremy had started on a good pace eating meat first in quarters then eating the bread. ” Wow! this burger is so good but, its fresh its burning my mouth from mouth for being so hot.” He said laughing. His friends shouting “Shut up and eat you only have four minutes left!” At exactly 9:59 he ate his last piece of the Monster he was the pioneer of the Jake Challenge. He ate about 2.35 # of mouth watering goodness! “I never knew something so good can make you so full!” Jeremy laughed. As his reward we bought his burger and gave him a filled up Lucky Seven card stamped for another burger. Already, word of mouth has started and people wanting to break Jeremy’s record! That’s why at Jake’s we can take something as simple and a delicious traditional hamburger into a monster of free advertising of word of mouth!

Award winning karaoke at its finest……only at Jake’s

Author: pasadena | March 11, 2009 on 4:17 am | In Music, WOW Stories, All for Fun, Everything Matters, All Else, Make It Your Own! | No Comments

On these chilly nights we have been having in Pasadena only the warmth of our fiery and hearty old fashion chilly could keep up with the daily travelers of Pasadena until one night. All the lights were lit, the stage was set and people were ready to party like no other. It was a Thursday night, one to remember, one night to start for a brighter future our guests. The suspense was like no other for our first Karaoke Competition night. What started to be only one or two names wanting to join turned out to be 32 people. Jimmy B. was on fire getting the crowd going and the emphatic cheers of their favorite songs being sung by Karaoke Heroes. You can hear the latest hits from Chris Brown and No Doubt to Smokey Robinson and Blondie it was intense. Even Simon couldnt cut a knife into our crowd for being so energetic and singing along. Plus, great drinks made by our infamous Jake’s bartenders kept the crowd wanting more. Even our famous Paddy-O came out to sing “Comedown” by Bush. With the patient waiting we had our winner, he was from the newly founded Pasadena Karaoke group who were looking for a place to perform. They said’ ” We have to thank Ray and all the Jake’s staff for putting together such a great event. We think we found our home, Jake’s is our place to be!” Ever since that night Karaoke has been the place to be in Pasadena and I thinks its going to be that way for quite awhile.

How do I put smiley faces on my blog posts?

Author: jsowders | December 18, 2008 on 4:00 pm | In All for Fun | No Comments

Just in case you ever wondered how to put smiley faces on your blog post like the ones right here:

          8)          :D      :(

……. use the template below as a smiley face guideline.

Smiley Faces

Just type the smiley text (or full text) directly into your article - put a space before & after.  For example, for wink you could type in any of the three text values to the right of the wink icon.  For the green smiley you would type in the full text value to right of that icon.  Give it a try.

Worcester’s Buds And Suds!

Our team recently completed our 2nd Buds and Suds Bikini Car Wash at Jillian’s in Worcester and the response could not have been better! It went from being “Just for Fun” to doing something that will help to make a difference! Some simply came by for a car wash, others to spend the day with familiar faces and to enjoy good times with friends, but all gave to a GREAT cause!!!!

 bud-car-wash-072.jpg

Jillian’s brought our patrons together for a day they won’t soon forget!!! In working with Lisa from Budweiser we hosted a fundraising event for ALS, better known as Lou Gehrigs disease. The money raised goes directly to helping the families that are affected with the illness. It will help to pay medical bills and expenses that they just can’t cover. We hope that as time goes on people will continue to associate Jillian’s in Worcester with having FUN and giving back to the community!!!

As always our staff gave it their all! We had Paul and Leo working the grill, Mike Tidd working the music to keep everyone going and our waitstaff and bartenders washing the cars!! Everyone gave 100% and it showed!!! The day was GREAT!! Everyone (staff included) had the best time!

We appreciate everyones efforts in this great event and look forward to seeing everyone, and more, next year!!!

Author: jilliansseattle | August 11, 2008 on 5:39 pm | In All for Fun, Embrace Opportunity, All Else | No Comments

On Friday August 8th, Jillian’s in Seattle participated in the South Lake Union Block Party. This was an event to celebrate our up and coming neighborhood and all of the wonderful businesses and people that reside here. The event included live music, food vendors, the muttmazing dog race and ended with an outdoor cinema viewing of Juno. In the Jillian’s booth we handed out food samples (Chicken and pineapple kabobs - yum!) and promotional materials while meeting a ton of interesting people! This was a great way to get our name out there in the community, and all of the donations for food samples will go to charity!

Enjoy some pics of Cidnee and Lauren rockin’ the block party!

This year San Francisco entered a team in the San Francisco Co-Ed Baseball League.   Coach Chris Caleca and AGM - Gil Frias lead the team.

This past week the team came back from to win the game 9-8 after being down 8-2 in the sixth inning.

This is a great opportunity to bring some of our team together outside the workplace.

More to come………………..stayed tuned

Saturday the 5th, Worcester Held our First(hopefully annual) Buds and Suds Bikini Car Wash! It went GREAT! We attained a permit for a one day liquor licence to serve beer outside, and had a Cook-out Bikini car wash. The weekend of the 4th as you all know, can be a very hard time to bring in sales. Worcester holds it’s Summer Nationals that weekend and has a “block party” that takes over down town. Car shows, burn-outs and trick bikes. It’s Mardi Gras for Worcester! We are located about 1 mile too far away, so this year we wanted to bring them over to us!

The weather was far from perfect, but everyone that worked it or stopped in had a BLAST! The Girls that worked it ROCKED! They were all over the cars that came in, that people could have waited in there cars and left, but took advantage of the event and parked there cars and just hung out!!! Eric and Leo manned the grill and the beer, and did a great job making sure that everyone was fed and happy! Our “guys” that visit us almost everyday are part of “hole shot racing” brought their crew down with them and showed off some pretty great cars! Thanks guys, for getting the word out!

The day turned out better than expected, and we are actually looking to do this again before the end of Summer! I talked to a few people that were here and come to find out they live walking distance to a different billiards club, but said that after this, we are going to be there new hang out!!! Talk about a great way to get people talking!!!!

Author: nicolewoo | June 23, 2008 on 2:48 pm | In All for Fun, All Else | No Comments

This weekend, Friday thorugh Sunday, Jillian’s of Worcester hosted the New England Association of Paralyzed Veterans 1st Annual Billiards Tournament! Friday began with an opening ceremony with performances from several branches of the US armed forces. The bag pipes were GREAT! Ewa Laurance a.k.a. The Striking Viking, was the guest of Honor!! Arguably the best Woman Billiards player of all time!! She was SUPER! Ewa was performing trick shots, answering questions, and challenged guests to games of 9-Ball to raise money for charity! She even had a Marine lie on a table and made a shot off of his mouth! It was AMAZING! We really enjoyed having here here!!!! We also had a silent auction all weekend loing featuring signed memorabilia from “title town”. Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots limited edition frames and signatures were on display for all to see.

Saturday and Sunday featured the actual Billiards Tournament! A solid turnout and lots of new guests seeing the club for the 1st time, they were all very impressed. It was double elimantion and everyone here seemed to have a GREAT time! It is always great to see people doing what they LOVE and raising money for such an AMAZING cause!

Sunday was the wrap up of the Billiards tournament and Closing Ceremony. Brendan O’Donell, Senator John Kerry’s disability advocate was here to speak for the ceremony. Overall this was an EXCELLENT opportunity for Jillian’s in the WOO to get excellent exposure as well as raise a lot of money for our N.E. Vets!!

Twister in the WOO

Author: nicolewoo | May 27, 2008 on 2:18 pm | In All for Fun, All Else | No Comments

We had a college senior event in here on the 12th of May and they wanted something “a little extra fun”, and we didn’t want to disappoint so, we had this idea for a blow-up twister game. It was supplied by our local rental company at a cost of $99!!! Just so no one was left out when the “big” game was going we also had two regular twister games out for “practice”. We had our DJ come down to help with the fun! Brian was GREAT! It was a SUPER, low cost way to give our guests a little extra fun! Talking to the contacts and some of the kids, they LOVED it!!! We definitely feel that with the DJ and the twister, you can’t go wrong! It just adds a little extra fun to a place where your fun is our business!!!

We are now offering this “package” to another group that is penciled in for June 24th!! I hope that other people get to have as much fun with this as we did!!!! ;)

So,  as the entire world already knows, The New England Patriots painfully lost the Superbowl.  **SIGH**

BUT, that didn’t stop Team Manchester from throwing a “wicked good superbowl pah-ty!”  The pre-superbowl festivities started at about 3PM and our entire vc and most of billiards was packed!  Our friend Pete Tarrier from WGAM Sports Radio was on hand as the master of ceremonies yacking it up with all of our guests and giving away a ton of stuff!  Every guest walked away with something.  Jager Girls and The Manchester Wolves Cheerleaders were also on hand - with Scottie J as the ring leader (see attached photo)!  No party is complete without cake!  Debby from Creative Cakes hooked us up!  I have never seen a cake like this and the attached picture does not do any justice.  The cake was extremely detailed and beautiful!  It even had goal posts!  Thanks to all of the vendors who helped us throw a great party and we can not forget to mention our good friends at Coors!

jillians-pats-4.jpg  pats-cake.jpg

Despite the outcome of the game, the energy in the room was great and no stone was left unturned to maximize sales.  We showcased Jillian’s Manchester and guests will remember where to come to watch Celtics games and of course, RED SOX!!  Looking forward to spring training.

Deal or No Deal comes to Norfolk!!!!!!

Author: mikewatterson | February 7, 2008 on 5:06 pm | In All for Fun, All Else | 1 Comment

Exciting news everybody, Norfolk Jillians has recieved the “Deal or No Deal” arcade machine to boost our game room.

As you can see from the pictures below, this machine is bright and attractive, much like the hit television show it is based after.

This morning, as a team, we gathered around the machine and became the spirit of competition. All morning shift compeated against one another to gain the highest amount of tickets. It was a fierce competition, but Christy won the competition with a whooping 58 tickets. Unfortunately this is rather low for what people have been winning most of the day.

The great thing about this machine is, you don’t have to win the jackpot to get a large number of tickets. A gentleman earlier in the day won over 100 tickets on a single credit, without hitting the jackpot.

We look forward to seeing the excitement of our guests around and on this machine. Sitting in the hot seat has a whole new meaning when it comes to “Deal or No Deal”.

Can you win a million dollars?!?!

Worcester Wii !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Author: Barbara | October 22, 2007 on 12:23 pm | In All for Fun | 1 Comment

Last week Team Worcester joined by the fabulous Wendy from Manchester made a huge splash at the Worcester Business Expo. Our double-size end booth was the perfect location for a beautiful buffet, plenty of party and club literature and displays and most importantly a Nintendo Wii. This is the best piece of equipment that you can invest in if you’re doing an event!! Every businessman in the place was lining up to play our game. The Jillian’s booth was the place to hang! Especially during the Worcester Chamber Business After Hours when the food and drinks were flowing.  To really top off an amazing promotional event we received a Best Booth award and Tim Chamberlain our Assistant Manager was in the Worcester Telegram and Gazzette the next day playing the Wii with a big Jillian’s logo in the background.

A big thanks to the entire Worcester team for a successful event. Our chef Heather did an amazing job with the food. Tim really sacrificed by playing the Wii all day-HA! And Wendy drove down from Manchester to schmooze the crowd. Also thanks to Paul our fearless leader, Angela for working the room all day, and Carolyn for coming down last minute to help.
